Lura Seavey
I am a writer, a mother, an artist, and an activist.
My passion is using words to inspire, provoke, and encourage questions.
I have been writing professionally since college, and have been involved in the substance abuse recovery field for seven years now.
I have had the honor of being a case manager for pregnant women and mothers at a therapeutic community for women with substance abuse issues, where I had the opportunity to not only work directly with families in recovery but also attend extensive training seminars presented by Phoenix House, the Vermont Department of Corrections, and Stephanie Covington PhD. I have also worked for the State of New Hampshire's Multiple Ofender Program, a week-long residential program for those who have been convicted of multiple alcohol related driving offenses.
In addition to my formal training, I have been in personal recovery from alcohol and substance abuse for seven years now. I employ a variety of tools in my recovery including AA, family support, talk therapy, journaling, and abstinence. In my personal life I keep many friendships with others in recovery from various substance abuse issues, and have sponsored several women over the years.
Feel free to contact me at SubstanceAbuse@suite101.com any time.
